Dr. June Fisher (1933–2024) was a pioneering physician, product designer, and advocate for human-centered design. After earning her chemistry degree at Barnard College, her medical degree at SUNY Downstate, and completing her residency at Stanford, she became director of occupational health at San Francisco General Hospital. During the AIDS crisis, she focused on healthcare worker safety and explored product design solutions, leading to a decade-long lectureship at Stanford's Product Design program. In 1978, she founded a groundbreaking medical clinic for San Francisco transit operators, integrating research on workplace stress and safety. Later, she collaborated with startups to create innovative solutions for older adults, championing the principle, "Design with us, not for us."
