Background
Ann Getz Hutchinson Leech Lake, a native of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was born in
approximately 1800. She also lived in Baltimore, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and
Cincinnati, Ohio and owned a millinery business. She moved to California in 1861 to live
with her daughter, Anna C. Hutchinson Brown; her daughter's husband was Dr. Jacob Newton
Brown, who practiced medicine in San Jose. After arriving in 1861, Ann married for the third
time to S.S. Lake and lived in Centerville, California.
