Abstract:
The collection consists primarily of television scripts from the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. The remainder of the collection consists of other forms of script-related material including: correspondence, clippings, treatments, photographs, as well as scripts that were never performed. Containing material from 1966-1992, the collection spans all but the first four years of Carson's tenure as host of the Tonight Show.

The collection consists primarily of television scripts from the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. The remainder of the collection consists of other forms of script-related material including: correspondence, clippings, treatments, photographs, as well as scripts that were never performed. Containing material from 1966-1992, the collection spans all but the first four years of Carson's tenure as host of the Tonight Show.

Custodial history:

In 1996, the USC Cinematic Arts Library acquired the paper archives of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation Library (Academy Foundation Library), which included this collection of scripts from the Tonight Show.

Arrangement:

The materials are arranged alphabetically by script title, then chronologically when multiple scripts share the same title.
