Background

Scope and content:

The Lee Roy and Lucille Erickson Collection contains published and unpublished materials collected by Lee Roy and Lucille Erickson. Most materials relate to their involvement with: the Western District of the United Pentecostal Church; Apostolic Bible Church, St. Paul, Minnesota; and Apostolic Bible Institute, St. Paul, Minnesota. The collection includes numerous books, tracts, periodicals, and audio and video recordings. The collection is significant because it provides a rare glimpse into Oneness Pentecostalism, a growing and poorly understood segment of the Pentecostal movement. Of particular import are materials relating to Apostolic Bible Church and its pastor, Robert A. Sabin. Apostolic Bible Church sponsored Apostolic Bible Institute, for many years the largest ministerial training school in the United Pentecostal Church. Disagreement concerning some changes within the UPC caused Bro. Sabin and the Apostolic Bible Church to leave the United Pentecostal Church in the 1990s. The collection contains valuable audio and video recordings containing Sabin’s teachings, as well as two debates between Oneness and Trinitarian theologians.
