Scope and content:

The club was formed on Sept. 2 1955 at the youth building at the Placer county fairgrounds. Mrs. Hazel Doyle was elected the first president. The object of the Green Thumb Garden Club was to "stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening among armatures, to aid in the protection of nature, trees, plants, birds and to encourage planting to aid any organization to lead children to use their leisure time in the happy, healthful hobby of gardening." The Green Thumb Garden Club was a member of Golden Foothills District 8c of California Garden Clubs Incorporated.
