    Biographical / Historical

    B.L. Kennedy born Barri Louis Kennedy, on October 31, 1953, in the Bronx, New York is a writer, poet, columnist, and journalist based out of Sacramento, California. Known to his peers and contemporaries as a man of action, Kennedy is a highly regarded figure in the Sacramento poetry and literary scene. He spent several years as a contributing writer to The Rattlesnake Press where he conducted many interviews and published his poems and other work. Kennedy has been described by his peers as possessing a fierce tenacity and liberal with his praise and criticisms. Throughout his career he was a fixture in Sacramento where he would attend poetry slams, open mic nights, and spoken word engagements.

    Scope and Contents

    The collection is comprised of four groupings: l. Personal writings of B.L. Kennedy; ll. Posters; lll. Rattlesnake Press which consists of Kennedy as an interviewer, list of interviewees include: Frank Andrick, Julia Connor, Ann Menebroker, Malik, Jane Blue; IV. Rattlesnake Press Poems, with V.S. Chochezi, Crawdad Nelson, Song Cowbell, William S. Gainer, Staajabu; V. Posters and flyers. Items are in good condition and possess no signs of mistreatment.
