Description
Collection is composed of items – photographs, ephemera, envelopes, photographs, keepsakes, and letters – written to and from Sacramentan poet Barri Louis Kennedy.
Background
B.L. Kennedy born Barri Louis Kennedy, on October 31, 1953, in the Bronx, New York is a writer, poet, columnist, and journalist based out of Sacramento, California. Known to his peers and contemporaries as a man of action, Kennedy is a highly regarded figure in the Sacramento poetry and literary scene. He spent several years as a contributing writer to The Rattlesnake Press where he conducted many interviews and published his poems and other work. Kennedy has been described by his peers as possessing a fierce tenacity and liberal with his praise and criticisms. Throughout his career he was a fixture in Sacramento where he would attend poetry slams, open mic nights, and spoken word engagements.
