Scope and content:

The collection consists of histories of the Pinkerton family from their beginnings in Ireland to Willialm's arrival in Ventural County where he purchased land in the Santa Paula y Saticoy land grant. There is a genealogy of the family, a brief biography, and notes about relatives, and an oral history with James Pinkerton, son of William.

Biographical / historical:

Willilam John Pinkerton came to America from Ireland in 1868. He migrated to California and worked in the gold mines. Then he worked for Union Oil in Ventural. Then settled in Ssanta Paula in 1898.
