Hugh Johnson (1939-present) is a British writer
and expert on wine. This collection of his papers includes handwritten and typescript manuscripts, research files,
correspondence related to several of Mr. Johnson's books on wine, drafts of many of his articles, correspondence and notes
his publications and related projects, and a set of press clippings and scrapbooks documenting his early work.
Hugh Johnson (1939-present) is a British writer and expert on wine. Mr. Johnson has been writing on wine since the 1960s,
beginning as a feature writer for Condé Nast Publications and soon after becoming editor of Wine and Food magazine and wine
correspondent for "The Sunday Times". He is the author of dozens of books on wine, an enthusiastic wine historian, and
promoter of wines from all areas of the world.

permission to publish or quote from manuscripts must be submitted in writing to the Head of Special Collections. Permission
for publication is given on behalf of the Regents of the University of California as the owner of the physical items. It is
not intended to include or imply permission of the copyright holder, which must also be obtained by the researcher.
