Stan Gould Papers. History San Jose Research Library
Background
- Scope and content:
-
Gould's papers include documents produced during his tenure on the Chamber of Commerce of San Jose and the Guadalupe River Park Task Force, including correspondence, official reports, architectural plans and maps, and public meeting agendas and minutes. The most extensive information documents the Guadalupe River Park project, tracing its beginning as a flood control project, through the proposals for redevelopment of the area, to the final Interim Feasibility Report from the Army Corps of Engineers. The collection illustrates the push for revitalization of San Jose during the 1970s and 1980s through the Fox California Theater renovation, Julian/Stockton area redevelopment, and Downtown San Jose redevelopment. Also included are minutes from the Redevelopment Agency of San Jose meetings, and records from the Rotary Club of San Jose's museum outreach program.
