Description
The collections consists of color Lantern slides prepared by the United Committee on War Temperance Activities in the Army
and Navy.
Background
The United Committee on War Temperance Activities in the Army and Navy was created by the Joint Executive Committee of the
Federal Council of the Churches of Christ in America in May 1917. It represented Twenty-two national anti-drink organizations.
The United Committee prepared plans, furnished material s and speakers, supervised working arrangements and was directly responsible
for the temperance activities of the Army and the Navy gaining recognition from camps, forts, stations and the general public.
