The collection consists of temperance slides made by the United Committee. The set consists of 34 unique slides with 13 duplicates. 6 slides are cracked. The slides are numbered 13,16, 27, 36, 45, 302, 317, 319, 321, 323, 331, 344, 349, 350, 501, 502, 503, 505, 508, 512, 513, 514, 518, 520, 521, 524, 529, 534, 536, 539, 540, 542, 552, 701, 703, 704, 705, 709, 712, 713, 717, 719, 10 slides are not numbered.

Biographical / historical:

The United Committee on War Temperance Activities in the Army and Navy was created by the Joint Executive Committee of the Federal Council of the Churches of Christ in America in May 1917. It represented Twenty-two national anti-drink organizations. The United Committee prepared plans, furnished material s and speakers, supervised working arrangements and was directly responsible for the temperance activities of the Army and the Navy gaining recognition from camps, forts, stations and the general public.
