Abstract:
The International Center for HIV/AIDS Research and Clinical Training in Nursing was founded in 1991, as an inter-departmental and multi-disciplinary effort, committed to research, education, and care of persons with HIV that focused on nursing care for people at risk for and infected with HIV across all health care and community settings. This collection contains materials documenting the activities of the center that span from 1988 to 2024. Materials include general information about the center, meeting minutes, documentation on multiple studies, resources such as publications and guidelines for clinicians, photographs and memorabilia and a/v media.

Scope and content:

The collection spans from 1988 to 2024 and consists of four cartons containing materials from the International Center for HIV Research and Clinical Training in Nursing. Materials include general information about the center, meeting minutes, documentation on multiple studies, resources such as publications and guidelines for clinicians, photographs and memorabilia, and educational videos in various A/V media formats.

Biographical / historical:

The International Center for HIV/AIDS Research and Clinical Training in Nursing was founded in 1991, as an inter-departmental and multi-disciplinary effort, committed to research, education, and care of persons with HIV that focused on nursing care for people at risk for and infected with HIV across all health care and community settings.

In 1994, the Center was recognized as the Nursing component of the UCSF AIDS Clinical Research Center. That same year, it became affiliated with the Pacific AIDS Education Training Centers (Ryan White Care Act). The Center is related to I-TECH, International Training and Education Center for Health, is affiliated with the World Health Organization's Collaborating Centers, and is a component of the UCSF AIDS Research Institute (ARI).

The mission of the Center is to enhance optimal health and quality of care for people living with, at risk for and affected by HIV/AIDS through nursing leadership in research, clinical practice and education.

These papers were donated to the UCSF Archives and Special Collections by School of Nursing faculty member, Yvette Cuca in 2024.
