Abstract:
Oleg Alekseevich Grinevskiĭ (1930-2019) was a Russian diplomat and foreign policy expert who participated in key Cold War arms control negotiations. The collection includes correspondence, writings, notes, printed matter, and sound recordings relating primarily to negotiation of the nuclear test ban, non-proliferation and anti-ballistic missile treaties, and to conventional forces arms limitation treaties.

The collection includes correspondence, writings, notes, conference proceedings and agendas, serial issues and other printed matter, as well as sound recordings relating primarily to negotiation of the nuclear test ban, non-proliferation and anti-ballistic missile treaties, and to conventional forces arms limitation treaties.

Biographical / historical:

Oleg Alekseevich Grinevskiĭ (1930-2019) was a Russian diplomat and foreign policy expert. He participated in key Cold War arms control negotiations. He served as a special assistant to Nikita Khrushchev on foreign relations and was involved in the negotiation of significant international treaties, including the Limited Test Ban Treaty (1963), the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (1968), the SALT I Treaty, and the ABM Treaty (1972). Grinevskiĭ was also chief of the Soviet delegation for the 1986 and 1990 documents of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe and led negotiations for the Conventional Forces in Europe (CFE) Treaty (1990). He served as Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Sweden from 1991 to 1997.
