Scope and content:

The Trojan Marching Band realia and scrapbooks consist of a variety of material created and/or assembled by the USC Trojan Marching Band from 1925 to 2020. The collection includes helmets and uniforms dating back to the 1940s, photographs, artifacts, sheet music, scrapbooks, mementos, plaques, and publications. Parts of this collection were removed from exhibit cases in the USC Trojan Marching Band's former offices in Stonier Hall, which displayed materials celebrating the achievements of Robert F. Jani and Tommy Walker -- both USC alumni and later successful event directors. The oldest items in the collection include a 1925 photograph of the Trojan Marching Band performing in Santa Claus attire after a December football victory, panoramic group portraits of the Trojan Marching Band and USC's Glee Club from the 1930s, and photographs and clippings from Tommy Walker's youth during the 1930s and 1940s. The most recently created items include correspondence, ephemera, and documentation assembled by the Trojan League Los Angeles to support a 2018 benefit event for the Trojan Marching Band.
