The Grace Line containership sales manual, 1959-1966 (SAFR 23834, HDC 1671) is comprised of one volume of documents intended to provide Grace Line's sales staff with comprehensive information about the containership program and service. The collection has been processed to the collection unit level and is open for use without restrictions.
Sections of the containership sales manual include: containership, containers, service and itinerary, container regulations, packaging, cargo handling and insurance, land transport, customs regulations, and documentation. Some of this information is in the form of memos signed by A.C. Novacek. Included in the containership section are 8 8 x 10 inch black-and-white photographic prints that feature "Seatainer" service.

Agency History: W.R. Grace & Company (Grace Line) was a prominent shipping line in operation until 1969. The company began operating sailing vessels in the 1870s and purchased its first steamship in 1893. The Grace Steamship Co. (later known as Grace Line) was incorporated in 1916.
