The Dudley Herbarium was the herbarium of the Stanford University National History Museum and the former Division of Systematic Biology. The herbarium was home to the plant specimen collection that was started by botanist William Russel Dudley who was head of the Stanford Botany Department from 1892 to 1911.

It was in the 1960's that Stanford Provost Frederick E. Terman made the decision to terminate support to the Division of Systematic Biology. Due to this decision, various parts of the collection was transferred to other institutions. This included the transfer of 850,000 specimens of the Dudley Herbarium to the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco in 1976.
