The collection consists of six issues of Henry White's handwritten and illustrated newspaper, The Lichfield Monthly Gazette; or Newton Intelligencer (1804 to 1808). There are also 34 letters from Henry White to his friend, Elizabeth Parker of Newton Hall, Chester, England. The letters discuss White's personal activities and interests including book collecting, and life in Lichfield, England.

Henry White (1761-1836) was an English clergyman and book collector. White was the Vicar of Chebsey, Staffordshire, and Sacrist of Lichfield Cathedral. He was also a known bibliophile who assembled a unique and varied library and was a correspondent of novelist Sir Walter Scott.
