Administrative History
The Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs supports and directly supervises a number of initiatives and
units within Student Affairs. Student Affairs at UC San Diego oversees student-centered departments and works to ensure student
well-being and success. Currently, the AVC directly supervises: College Strategic Collaborations; EDI Strategic Collaborations;
Student Affairs Monitoring Team; Assessment, Evaluation & Organization Development (AEOD); the Center for Student Accountability,
Growth, and Education (SAGE); Residential Experience; and Student Affairs Case Management Services (SACM).
In the past, Student Affairs directly supervised the Registration Fee Committee (RFC); also known as the Registration Fee
Advisory Committee (RFAC). By the late 1970s, the University of California had established a systemwide charter for the RFC,
as a channel for student input regarding registration fee funds. The committee was charge with evaluating units funded by
student registration-fees; making recommendations for budget allocations to the various units in compliance with existing
policies and guidelines. The RFC at UC San Diego consisted of members from various areas on campus who were appointed each
year, including student members. For most years, the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs also served on the committee.
