Background

Scope and content:

This collection contains three correspondence and one photograph from GySgt. James T. McKie, USMC, to his sweetheart Beverly Willman during the Korean War.

The letters describe his time in Korea. In the first letter he describes one of the men in his company being killed by friendly fire during an air strike. In the second he talks about interacting with the locals and coming home for Christmas. Coming home is a theme repeated in all three letters. He also inquires after his family (it seems that James and Beverly were married during the period in which these letters were written).
