Scope and content:

Information varies, but usually includes application number, name, occupation, age, height, country (or state) of nativity, precinct, post office address, date of naturalization, and date of registration. Some volumes list color of eyes, hair, and complexion; visible marks and scars; ability to read English, mark ballot and write name; exemption from educational qualifications; and date of cancellation. Usually complied for even years, with some combined volumes for odd years. Most registers handwritten with printed duplicates for some years. Indexes listing names by precinct began in 1896.
