A large portion of the collection highlights materials published in California, particularly Berkeley and the San Francisco Bay Area. The included newspapers and periodicals vary in focus, but common themes and topics include anti-war demonstrations, student activism, social, labor, and civil rights movements, feminism and women's rights, environmentalism, and American counterculture movements and groups.
