- Fred H. Morlan, born July 28, 1883, enlisted as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Service on May 16, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois. Morlan was then stationed in France with the Advanced American Expeditionary Force for the duration of World War I

There are two boxes, both with dimensions 15”x5”x10.5”. Box 1 contains the folders with photographs, memos, negatives, and personal letters, and Box 2 contains hundreds of negatives in paper envelopes and hard covered boxes. The majority of this collection is photographs (duplicates included) and negatives. Materials are arranged by material type and numerical order.

Fred H. Morlan was born July 28, 1883 in Wayne County, Illinois to Dr. and Mrs. John H. Moreland. He enlisted as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Service on May 16, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois. He was sent to March Field pilot school and tested to become a pilot on July 12, 1920. Morlan was then stationed in France with the Advanced American Expeditionary Force. He was promoted to Captain on October 5, 1918. After the armistice ending World War I, Morlan returned to the United States and was discharged on March 23, 1921. He then resided in Colorado and became a charter member of the William D. Davis American Legion Post No. 34 in Bunnell, Colorado. Morlan passed away in 1968l.
