The Si Rose Papers (1946-1992) is comprised of 597 scripts spanning Si Rose’s career as writer, producer and creator: 355 television scripts, 229 radio scripts, and 13 film scripts written by him and others. Television programs well-represented in the collection are Bachelor Father, The Betty White Show, The Bob Crosby Show, The Bugaloos, The Donny & Marie Show, The Dukes of Hazzard, The Frank Sinatra Show, The Hank McCune Show, H.R. Pufnstuf, The Jean Arthur Show, Lidsville, The Lost Saucer, Operation Petticoat, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, and What’s Happening. Also included is a script of Stars in the Eye, a variety special commemorating the dedication of CBS Television City on October 3, 1952. Radio programs include Abbott and Costello, The Frank Fontaine Show, The Martin and Lewis Show, The Bob Hope Show, The Edgar Bergen Hour, and The Pepsodent Show. This collection also includes the film scripts for McHale’s Navy, McHale’s Navy Joins the Air Force, Pufnstuf, It Happened at the World’s Fair, and produced film scripts written by other writers: The Lemon Drop Kid, Sorrowful Jones, Road to Rio, Fancy Pants, and Did You Hear the One About the Traveling Saleslady?. Most radio scripts are accessible digitally while the majority of TV scripts are paper manuscript material.

Si Rose (1917-2011) was a prolific writer and producer of radio and television shows. His radio career began in the 1940s and he moved to television sitcoms in the 1950s and 1960s. He frequently collaborated with wrier Seaman Jacobs. In the 1970s Rose worked on multiple children’s TV shows under Sid and Marty Krofft. Rose received one Writers Guild Award for radio writing, in 1957 for the Edger Bergen Show. He was married to Rita Sedran Rose.
