Biographical / historical:

Albert Fred Frembling was born on Oct. 19, 1876 in Ney, Washington Township, Ohio to Henry and Eliza Frembling. He had 5 brothers and two sisters. His father was born in Prussia and at the time of the 1880 Census, was a farmer in Ohio. Frembling was brought to Fresno by his parents when he was 7 years old. Along with his older brother, August, Frembling was a Corporal in Company K with the 14th U.S. Infantry and served during the Spanish American War.

Frembling went to work for the Southern Pacific Railroad Company in 1902. In 1905, Frembling married Nellie Ester Adams in a double wedding ceremony along with Darwin S. Richardson and Sylvia Pearl Graham. Frembling and Nellie were the parents to Mabel [Levy] and Betty [Robertson].

Frembling lived and worked in Fresno for approximately forty years. When he retired in 1943, he was working as a locomotive engineer in the San Joaquin Division.

Albert Fred Frembling died at age 66 on March 27, 1945 and is buried in the Veteran's Liberty Cemetery in Fresno, California.
