Background

Scope and content:

Various documents relating to Arthur H. Little's career as a locomotive fireman and locomotive engineer with the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul and the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroads, including his union activities.

Mr. Little received many commendations from the railroad for reducing the usage of oil and coal and reducing overall costs to the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway. Included in his employment papers are certificates indicating he passed the requirements to be an Engineer in 1899 and 1918. There is also a document related to the payment of money from the railroad in regards to an accident he sustained on April 5, 1918 near Mapleton, Iowa.

This collection also includes the many railroad passes he was given for travel over the railroad's system. Many of the passes included travel for his wife and their children. There is a union ball invitation styled to look like a train order, variously called the "flimsy".
