Description
Time books and other working papers from the career of Southern Pacific fireman and locomotive engineer Virgil Blaine Brewer.
Background
Virgil Blaine Brewer was a fireman and locomotive engineer for the San Joaquin Division of Southern Pacific Railroad and a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Enginemen & Firemen’s Bakersfield California Mt. Whitney Lodge No. 139. He was born on May 6, 1898 and began working for Southern Pacific in 1919. Mr. Brewer, who died in 1952, had a wife, Katharine and a son, Joe.
