Includes: time books from 1937-1944, a Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen & Enginemen final withdrawal card for June 15, 1944, a circular from the Grand Lodge, 1941, correspondence, employee deduction statements, receipts for union dues, a Railroad Retirement Board change of beneficiary notice, study notes for enginemen's examination, a 1919 agreement with the Southern Pacific Company about a pre-existing medical condition, SP circulars, and notices for enginemen. The time books may include information such as date, location and time worked, class of service, amount earned and name of conductor or engineer.

Biographical / historical:

Virgil Blaine Brewer was a fireman and locomotive engineer for the San Joaquin Division of Southern Pacific Railroad and a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Enginemen & Firemenโ€™s Bakersfield California Mt. Whitney Lodge No. 139. He was born on May 6, 1898 and began working for Southern Pacific in 1919. Mr. Brewer, who died in 1952, had a wife, Katharine and a son, Joe.
