Biographical / historical:

According to the documents in the collection, the steamer DAVENPORT was built in 1912 at North Bend, Oregon, and the owner was the Str. Davenport Co. It was still traveling the Pacific Coast, between Puget Sound and San Diego, in 1943.

These items are part of a bulk accession from Golden Gate National Recreational Area when the San Francisco Maritime Museum became a National Historical Park in 1988. The creators of the collection are the Department of Commerce and Labor and the United States Coast Guard.
