Abstract:
The materials in this collection were compiled from 1948-1995. The bulk of the collection includes Photographs and Ephemera, most of which were collected and maintained by Zelda Gale who was an avid donor to the California State University Los Angeles Library. The Photographs contain several headshots and group shots of various actors and singers, Zelda Gale collected these photographs, some of which were personally addressed to her. The Ephemera contains an autograph book and newspaper clippings she kept pertaining to autograph collecting.

Scope and content:

The materials in this collection were compiled from 1948-1995. The bulk of the collection includes Photographs and Ephemera, most of which were collected and maintained by Zelda Gale who was an avid donor to the California State University Los Angeles Library. The Photographs contain several headshots and group shots of various actors and singers, Zelda Gale collected these photographs, some of which were personally addressed to her. The Ephemera contains an autograph book and newspaper clippings she kept pertaining to autograph collecting.

Series I: Photographs Inclusive Dates: 1948-1951 Arrangement: Alphabetical by last name

This series consists of celebrity headshot photographs and group shots. Notable names include Tony Curtis, Montgomery Clift, Peter Lawford, Jerry Lewis, Barbara Stanwyck, Burt Lancaster, Maureen O'Hara, Rod Taylor, Audie Murphy, Kathryn Grayson, Van Johnson, Howard Keel, Red Skelton and Dean Martin.

Series II: Oversized Photographs, u.d. Inclusive Dates: u.d. Arrangement: Alphabetical by last name

This small series contains oversized photographs of celebrities taken by photographer Ernest A. Bachrach. Notable celebrities include Robert Ryan, Victor Mature, and James Mitchell of "All My Children." Additionally, newspaper and magazine clippings of stories pertaining to collecting and selling autographs are included in the series.

Series III: Ephemera Inclusive Dates: 1937-1995 Arrangement: Alphabetical

This small series of ephemera consist of an autograph book with celebrity autographs. Zelda Gale also notes the dates and places where she collected them. Notable celebrities include, William Frawley of "I Love Lucy", baseball player Jay Hanna "Dizzy" Dean, Jack Oakie, Jean Parker, Frances Langford, Jon Hall, Joe E. Brown, Gene Austin, David Niven, and Dick Powell.
