Cook Martin Luther Frank, American Expeditionary Force (11/10/1894 - 10/11/1979) was born in New York City, New York with
an identical twin named George, who also served in France during the First World War, and worked as a chauffeur for G.N. Rowe
when he registered for the draft on June 5, 1917. He trained at Camp Dix in New Jersey and served in Europe with Company K,
310th Infantry, 78th Division at St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne. After the war he married his wife Ruth and they had a daughter,
Joyce. He died in Sherrill, New York in 1979.

This collection contains correspondence and other materials relating to Ck. Martin L. Frank, AEF to his mother during the
First World War. Included are four letters, two photographic postcards, three decorative postcards, one photograph of Ck.
Frank in his uniform, one clipping, one roster, one unit history of the 310th Infantry 78th Division, one identification disc
for Martin L. Frank, one WWI Victory Medal with three bars for St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne, and Defensive Sector, and one field
helmet with the 78th Division logo on the side.
The first postcard is undated and shows a photograph of four cooks with Ck. Frank on the far right. The other photographic
postcard includes a photograph of several soldiers as well as some French citizens and Ck. Frank is highlighted by an arrow
drawn in pen.
The correspondence begins while Frank is at Camp Dix in November 1917 and continues on into Frank's service in France. Two
letters were written from Montigny, France in February 1919 and one of the postcards was written by his twin brother, George
Frank, letting his mother know he is still alive.
