Paul G. Chace completed his undergraduate degree at California State University, Long Beach and went on to earn his master's in history from the State University of New York, Oneonta. Chace became a lecturer with the University of California, Riverside in 1985, where he earned his PhD in Anthropology and Archaeology. Chace currently works as a proprietor for Paul G. Chace and Associates and is the C.E.O. of the Presidio Heritage Trust. As such, Chace conducts historical research and specializes in "cultural resources management, preservation law, and ethnic relations theory.
William S. Evans, Jr. (1922-2009) e held bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, where he focused on anthropology, archaeology, and geography, and later did postgraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. He was the first curator at the Rancho Los Cerritos Museum in Long Beach, California, where he initiated historical archaeology studies. Evans taught anthropology at Santa Monica College for two decades before retiring in 1985.
