The collection includes minutes, by-laws, bulletins, invitations, newspaper clippings and photographs documenting the history of the Newport Harbor Lady Anglers. The meeting bulletins, notices of elections and event invitations cover the years 1965-1976, while the majority of the records consist of scrapbooks containing photographs and local newspaper articles about the group’s various fishing and social activities.

The Newport Harbor Lady Anglers (NHLA) was established September 13, 1949 as a women’s only deep sea fishing club. The club chartered boats out of Newport Harbor and awarded annual prizes based on the size and quantity of fish caught by each angler. The NHLA also raised funds for philanthropic causes, generally related to disadvantaged children.
