Abstract:
This 10 item collection consists of playbills for productions of plays by, or adapted from stories by, Booth Tarkington. Tarkington is best remembered for his Pulitzer Prize-winning novels "The Magnificent Ambersons" and "Alice Adams", and is only one of three American authors to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction more than once.

This 10 item collection consists of playbills for productions of plays by, or adapted from stories by, Booth Tarkington. All productions were at theaters in New York City. Included is the Park Theatre's production of "Poldekin" starring Geroge Arliss, September 27, 1920; Henry Miller's Theatre, "The Intimate Strangers" starring Billie Burke, December 5, 1921; Maxine Elliott's Theatre, "Hello Lola!", based on Tarkington's novel and play "Seventeen", February 8, 1926; the Hudson Tehatre, "Clarence", March 22, 1920; the New Amsterdam Theatre, "Monsieur Beaucaire", based on Tarkington's story, February 2, 1920; the Park Theatre, "The Man From Home", starring William Hodge, February 14, 1910; the Liberty Theatre, "Magnolia", starring Leo Carillo, August 27, 1923; the Empire Theatre, "Rose Briar", starring Billie Burke, February 19, 1923; the Booth Theatre, "Seventeen", March 18, 1918; and the Frazee Theatre, "Tweedles", August 13, 1923.

Booth Tarkington is best remembered for his Pulitzer Prize-winning novels "The Magnificent Ambersons" and "Alice Adams", and is only one of three American authors to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction more than once (the others being William Faulkner and John Updike). Tarkington's work was immensely popular in the 1910s and 1920s.
