Scope and content:

Includes photos of the Ripley family and their home in Riverside, California, and at other locations on the Santa Fe system. Most photos are of children in the extended Ripley family, but there are a few of Mr. Ripley at his desk in 1914. Some photos are of an older man named Schuyler. There is a faded photo of Fred Harvey at Yellowstone.

Biographical / historical:

Edward Payson Ripley (October 30, 1845 – February 4, 1920), sometimes referred to as Edward P. Ripley or E. P. Ripley, was the fourteenth president of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway from 1896 to 1920.

On December 1, 1895, as the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway emerged from receivership, Ripley became Santa Fe's president. He served as president until January 1, 1920. He is interred at Bronswood Cemetery in Oak Brook, Illinois.
