Scope and content:: A near full run of the alternative weekly newspaper, New Times Los Angeles, published from 1996 to 2002. The collection contains the first and last issues of New Times Los Angeles as well as the final issues of its two predecessor publications: the Los Angeles View and the Los Angeles Reader. Only a few issues (fewer than ~10) of New Times Los Angeles are missing from the collection.
Biographical / historical:: New Times Los Angeles was an alternative weekly newspaper that ran from 1996 to 2002 in Los Angeles, CA. The newspaper was the product of a merger of two other Los Angeles weekly newspapers, the Los Angeles View and the Los Angeles Reader. New Times, Inc. purchased both of the preceding newspapers in 1996 and went on to publish New Times Los Angeles until its final issue, which covered the week of October 3, 2002.
