Scope and content:

A collection of letters written by Sir Walter Scott. Correspondents in the collection include James Boswell, John Cam Hobhouse, Baron Broughton, George Gordon Byron, Baron Byron, William Chisholm, John Wilson Croker, Charles Erskine, Matthew Weld Hartstonge, and William Laidlaw. The collection also includes three forged letters, allegedly by Scott, created by Alexander "Antique" Howland Smith.

Sir Walter Scott, 1st Baronet (1771-1832), was a Scottish historical novelist, playwright, and poet.
