This collection documents the work of Just Communities (Communidades Justas), a Santa Barbara-based Social Justice non-profit organization that served California's Central Coast from the 1990s to approximately 2021, offering cultural competency training to organizational leaders, education seminars for the general public, leadership training institutes for students and teachers, and customized consultation to local agencies for diversity and organizational change initiatives.
The materials in this collection span from the 1990s through 2021, and include administrative records, budget documents, grant reports, brochures, flyers, fundraising records, correspondence, and clippings featuring Just Communities. A large component of the collection features materials from the cultural competency trainings and other lessons and workshops that the organization produced, as well as those of other, often related, Social Justice organizations and initiatives, such as THRIVE Westside, Safe Schools, Community Leadership Institute (CLI), Padres para la Inclusion, Diversidad y Accession (PIDA), and Building Bridges, among many others.
