Wolfe, who was introduced to the novel by Laird's editor Anne Jennings, took an active role in helping to promote the book, including writing a glowing review of the book for Harper's Bookletter. Biographical / historical:

Anne B. Jennings is a former employee of the Malki Museum, serving as secretary and later as an editor and publicist for the Malki Museum Press, where she edited Carobeth Laird's works, including Encounter with an Angry God. She also was a reporter, writing articles for the Press-Enterprise among other outlets.
