Background

Scope and content:

This collection contains one correspondence written by Sgt. Albert J. Leblanc, USA to his parents during the Second World War. Also included is a reproduced photograph portrait of Sgt. Leblanc in uniform. The correspondence is dated January 25, 1943 and written to his mother and father from Sicily. In it he tells them to respond to his brother Alfred's question about the Italian language, that he only knows a few words because it is similar to his native French. He also mentions the weather, and then discusses a corporal in his section named Edward [Larasseau] who received a letter from his mother in French so he translated, as he does for many men who receive French letters from women in North Africa.
