Background

Scope and content:

This album contains images of Pacific Electric interurban cars in operation on various lines and in various yards awaiting assignment. All classes of passenger cars appear to be represented in this album. The photos are glued onto slightly larger framing paper (dark red) that forms a colored border around each shot. The left side page includes neatly typed captions for each photo that are also glued onto the album pages. The last several pages of the album contain fifteen individual line timetable folders that are held in place by corner ears and can be removed for reference. Most of these folders are dated in the early 1950s and some were actually issued by Metropolitan Coach Lines, a company that bought Pacific Electric's passenger service in 1953. [Album 101]
