    Biographical / Historical

    The Abbotts were both professional photographers who moved to Santa Cruz, California in 1962 and became active in the historic preservation of Santa Cruz buildings. Chuck Abbott became known as the "Father of the Pacific Garden Mall."

    Scope and Contents

    This collection consists of slides taken by the Abbotts, who photographed U.S. shopping malls and other sites depicting urban development in the 1950s and 1960s. Also includes slides of the Pacific Garden Mall in Santa Cruz, California.
