Biographical / historical:

The Abbotts were professional photographers who moved to Santa Cruz, California in 1962. They helped shape downtown Santa Cruz and the Pacific Garden Mall and were active in the historic preservation of Victorian houses. Chuck Abbott became known as the "Father of the Pacific Garden Mall."

The Abbotts also put together a collection of 160 slides to show other small cities how to revitalize their downtowns. The collection of slides was called the "PROD Package" and was produced by PROD, Inc. (Private Revitalization of Downtown), a corporation that was founded by Chuck.
