Background

Scope and content:

Studded, leather sash awarded to The Steve Lady upon winning the first Miss Trannyshack pageant in 1996. Please note that the name of pageant includes a term that, at the time it was produced, was used by some trans people within the LGBTQ community as friendly slang. The term is now, however, widely considered a slur. The term is used here in historical context only, to accurately document the pageantโ€™s name and the terms historical actors used among themselves.
