A collection of 49 cartes de visite or photographic portraits of various European medical scientists and physicians active during the second half of the 19th century, assembled by an unidentified former owner and housed in a commercially-produced contemporary blank album, re-bound in brown calf over boards. The photographs originate from a number of different photography studios, including: Atelier-Langhans (Prague), C. Brasch (Berlin), Chalot (Paris), Ernst Enke (Berlin), Adolf Halwas (Berlin), A.
