Biography/Administrative History
Christine Tayleur was a Canadian trans woman, social worker, and co-founder of Transgender Nation. She was active in the San
Francisco transgender scene between the 1970s and the 1990s, acting as an at-large representative on the San Francisco Task
Force on Prostitution and a board member of Community United Against Violence
Scope and Content of Collection
The collection consists of correspondence, flyers and brochures; an interview with, and speech by, Tayleur; news clippings,
photographs, press releases and announcements; and resource materials for transgender people. Some correspondence, such as
an exchange about phalloplasty with a Belgian doctor, was apparently undertaken by Tayleur in the process of her work with
clients. There is also personal correspondence in English, Dutch, and French, Tayleur apparently having been a Francophone.
