Biographical / historical:

The Constitution & By-Laws of the Garfield Park Improvement Club, adopted July 1, 1919 state that "The Purpose of this club shall be to promote the interests and betterment of the section of Santa Cruz commonly known as Garfield Park, Surfside and their surroundings; to improve its material conditions and to provide wholesome social activities for its people."
