Letters of Luz Moreno, written in Spanish in the early 1950s from San Miguel el Alto, Jalisco, Mexico, to his daughter, Francisca "Pancha" Moreno Rivera, and son-in-law Juan Rivera, after their move to Stockton, California. Letters document Luz Moreno's responses to immigration to the United States, as well as deep reflections on poverty, Roman Catholicism, aging, and death, among other matters.

Luz Moreno was a sharecropper from an impoverished background in San Miguel el Alto, Jalisco, Mexico. His daughter Francisca "Pancha" Moreno was married to Juan Rivera, and the couple left Mexico to immigrate to Stockton, California, in the early 1950s.

Processed at the time of accessioning by Kelly Kress in July 2023. Letters were originally kept in binders by the donor in roughly chronological order, housed in annotated plastic sleeves. Letters have been removed from the binders and rehoused in archival folders next to their sleeves.
