The Collection of Japanese Language School Textbooks (1957-1963) 0.42 linear feet. The collection includes seventeen-grade school textbooks, a Chinese penmanship table, and Compton Japanese School textbooks.
- Biographical / historical:

The Compton Japanese Language School was opened in November 1924 by Gardena Gakuen teacher Koshiro Endo. Endo opened two other language schools in the area before opening this location. The Compton school may have reopened after the war or reopened under a different name, Endo Memorial Gakuen, in 1949. In 1971 the Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute formed and encompassed other schools in the area. Koji Endo was the first principal.
