Background
- Scope and content:
-
A CD-ROM featuring TransGender Forum website content dating from April 1995 to December 1998. A case insert reads: “Welcome to the world’s largest transgender resource anywhere! Cindy Martin started TransGender Forum on the Internet in March of 1995. Starting in January of 1996, she entered into a partnership with Jamie Faye Fenton and JoAnn Roberts. Together they’re called 3-D Communications, Inc., and their goal was to provide you with up to the minute news, accurate resource information, and a selection of member services second to none. Judging by what you’ll find on this CD-ROM, they succeeded! You have at your fingertips thousands of files with resource listings, event descriptions, tons of great “how-to” information, insightful analyses of personal and relational issues, and the fantastic TGF Shopping Mall. Plus, the TGF Community Center will acquaint you with many of the community’s best transgender support organizations. Before creating TransGender Forum, Cindy, Jaime & JoAnn were all very active in the transgender community in their own right; Cindy and Jamie on the West Coast and JoAnn on the East. The Internet made short work of the 3300 mile difference and in no time they were collaborating on the best thing to happen to the tg community sing Virginia Prince appeared on television in 1975—TransGender Forum.”
